Carolina is Senior Director – Risk Services, Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific at Visa Inc.
What do you do and what is it about your job that gets you out of bed in the morning?
I work in Risk for Visa, based in Sydney and look after our clients in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. It’s never a dull moment keeping up with the fraudsters, but I feel I’m able to have a real influence over how we pay for stuff in our daily lives.
How did you get to where you are today?
Lots of curiosity, some amazing guidance and role models and a drive to do what’s right.
What is the most important lesson you have learned along the way?
No person is an island, no matter how brilliant you are, you will always need someone to help open doors for you.
What’s your pitch to CEOs in the identity space? What do you suggest they START / STOP / CONTINUE doing and why?
Let’s keep leveraging technology but keep it simple! Finding that balance across security, usability and privacy is not easy. Have a clear problem statement of what you’re trying to solve for and check in often to validate you are on the right track.
In one sentence, why does diversity matter to you?
“Different realities drive robust outcomes.”
What are you reading?
Inferno by Dan Brown – the thrill of skipping through Europe whilst trying to stop a pandemic is a brilliant read!
What advice would you give to the teenage ‘you’?
Don’t be so shy and speak up – people want to hear from you!
